Will Diners Get Punch-Drunk Love this Valentine’s?
Inspired by the hugely popular Channel 4 show, local single folk of all ages are invited to enter a competition to win a blind date with a carefully chosen match at the Punchbowl this Valentine’s Day.
Andy Melville, full-time General Manager at the Punchbowl - and part-time Dating Guru - said, “The Punchbowl is an historic building with a naturally a romantic atmosphere, with our cosy open fire and intimate dining area, so it’s the perfect venue for First Dates on Valentine’s Day.
“Entrants just need to complete a simple questionnaire about themselves and send a photo. To help create a special night we’ll be providing the lucky couple with a menu of delicious food known for its aphrodisiac properties, plus a bottle of champagne, and of course we’ll be picking up the tab.”

The Punchbowl was built in 1532, the year Henry VIII married Lady Anne Boleyn. It was known for a time as the Covered Cup, thought to be named after the chalices depicted on the crest of a powerful local family called the Bottlers.
